The Bay of St Cyprien, in the commune of Lecci, is an immense expanse of fine sand and turquoise water. A mecca for seaside tourism in southern Corsica, it is bordered on either side by a 500-year-old Genoese tower and the Etang d'Araso, a Natura 2000 site.
We like to go there for its postcard scenery, but also for its good addresses, including the posh beach restaurants of Tiki chez Marco and Le Cabanon Bleu, very well known in the region, where you can have a drink or dine with your feet in the sand... while admiring the color of the water.
St Cyprien has a friendly little shopping center, with Rémy Mary's excellent butcher and delicatessen, cafés, ice-cream parlors, grocery store, bakery, a SubTortue diving center, and one of the region's best restaurants, l'Emporium, which we highly recommend.
For those who prefer activities to idleness, the choice is varied:
- Le Ponton offers waterskiing, wakeboarding and towed buoy lessons for family fun.
- Sensations airlines, next door, a parasailing flight for thrills and spills, and admire the bay of St Cyprien from the air.
- The Loolyloops sailing school for an introduction to catamaran, windsurfing or wing-foil, or simply hire a paddle.
- Jetski with Saint Cyprien Jet
- And horseback rides, with the possibility of swimming, organized by Les Ecuries de l'Oso, Ranch Villata or Country Horse
Just 7 km north of Porto-Vecchio, this beach is easy to get to, with plenty of parking, a boat launch and gently sloping access to the water for children, making it a great place to spend days and evenings.
